10 Year Oasis Overland Trans Africa reunion weekend

Ten years after setting off on a 29-week Trans Africa overland adventure from the UK to Cape Town, Linda and 24 fellow travellers reunited in Herefordshire to celebrate the unforgettable journey that changed their lives. From life-changing friendships and romances to countless adventures across 27 countries, the reunion was filled with laughter, memories, photos, and DVDs of the original trip. While the comforts of central heating, hot showers, and clean clothes replaced the rugged conditions of the road, the spirit of adventure, camaraderie, and shared experiences remained as vibrant as ever. It was a weekend to treasure—and a reminder of the lasting impact of overland travel.

Returning to Zimbabwe after nearly 10 years, I was thrilled to rediscover its breathtaking landscapes, warm-hearted people, and incredible wildlife. Highlights included soaring over Victoria Falls on the “flight of angels,” spotting elephants and giraffes from above, and exploring Matobo National Park with a passionate guide who revealed the secrets of the land and its endangered rhinos. From stunning vistas to unforgettable wildlife encounters and the ever-present smiles of locals, this short visit reaffirmed why Zimbabwe remains one of Africa’s most captivating destinations, and I can’t wait to return again.
